At CGI, you will work alongside experienced consultants and technologists, with the opportunity to make an impact in complex enterprise environments. We value ownership, collaboration, and a pragmatic approach to solving client challenges.
Role Overview
CGI Malaysia is seeking a Digital Manufacturing Consultant to support a key client in analyzing manufacturing application landscapes, MES usage, ERP/MES/PLM integration points and data flows across manufacturing IT environments.
This role is analytical and documentation-driven, requiring the ability to inventory current systems, map interfaces, consolidate interview findings and develop application landscape / architecture views that support digital manufacturing roadmap development.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, manufacturing IT, enterprise application teams and architects to create clear views of the current-state environment, identify integration and data-flow gaps, and support future-state recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
1) Application Landscape & Current-State Analysis
· Inventory current manufacturing systems, enterprise applications and digital manufacturing tools across ERP, MES, PLM, quality, planning, reporting and integration layers.
· Assess current MES / Opcenter usage, functional coverage, adoption levels, pain points and gaps against manufacturing process needs.
· Analyze current application ownership, business usage, data dependencies, integration touchpoints and technical constraints.
2) ERP / MES / PLM Integration Mapping
· Map key interfaces and data flows between ERP, MES, PLM, shop-floor systems, reporting platforms and related enterprise applications.
· Document source/target systems, integration methods, interface frequency, key data objects, dependencies and known issues.
· Support identification of integration gaps, duplicate data entry, manual workarounds, master-data dependencies and risk areas.
3) Architecture Views & Documentation
· Create application landscape diagrams, data-flow views, interface maps and current/future-state architecture views for stakeholder review.
· Produce clear documentation using PowerPoint, Excel and standard architecture / analysis templates to support business and IT decision-making.
· Consolidate interview findings and analysis outputs into structured summaries, heatmaps, gap logs and roadmap inputs.
4) Interview Preparation & Findings Consolidation
· Support preparation of stakeholder interview guides, workshop materials and analysis templates for manufacturing IT and business stakeholder discussions.
· Capture, structure and synthesize interview insights into practical findings, themes, risks, assumptions and follow-up actions.
· Work with business consultants, architects and project leads to validate findings and align recommendations.
5) Roadmap & Recommendation Support
· Support development of digital manufacturing roadmap inputs, including application rationalization opportunities, integration improvements and data enablement priorities.
· Contribute analytical input into future-state application landscape, MES capability uplift and ERP/MES/PLM integration recommendations.
· Help define transition considerations, dependencies, quick wins and sequencing options for digital manufacturing initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
· 5-10 years of experience in enterprise applications, digital manufacturing, manufacturing IT, application analysis or solution/application architecture support.
· Strong understanding of ERP, MES, PLM and integration concepts in manufacturing environments.
· Experience analyzing application landscapes, interfaces, data flows, system dependencies and current-state architecture.
· Ability to assess MES usage and support structured evaluation of functional coverage, adoption and gaps.
· Strong documentation skills using PowerPoint and Excel; able to create clear diagrams, matrices, trackers and executive-ready summaries.
· Experience supporting interviews, workshops and analysis activities with business and IT stakeholders.
· Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and ability to consolidate complex information into simple, decision-ready artefacts.
Preferred Certifications / Knowledge
· Experience with Siemens Opcenter / Camstar or other MES platforms is helpful but not mandatory.
· Exposure to integration technologies, APIs, middleware, data platforms, reporting/BI tools or shop-floor connectivity is an advantage.
· Familiarity with application architecture methods, capability mapping, data lineage, interface catalogues or current/future-state architecture artefacts.
· Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality, traceability, production execution, master data and shop-floor data capture.
Strong Advantage
· Experience in electronics, semiconductor, high-tech, discrete manufacturing or regulated manufacturing environments.
· Prior involvement in MES implementation, MES rollout, ERP/MES integration, PLM integration or manufacturing digital transformation programs.
· Ability to work with architects and business consultants to connect process findings with application/data landscape implications.
· Knowledge of Industry 4.0, digital thread, smart manufacturing, paperless manufacturing and IT/OT integration concepts.
