Regional Sales Manager

Location: Johor, Malaysia

Reporting To: Managing Director

Industry: Welding Consumables / Welding Solutions / Industrial Services

 

Job Summary

The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for leading all sales and marketing activities across the assigned region to drive revenue growth, profitability, market expansion, and customer satisfaction. The role will oversee a team of Sales Engineers/Managers across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines while ensuring effective territory management, business development, distributor support, and customer relationship management.

The successful candidate will develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans, manage key customer relationships, monitor business performance, and lead the regional sales team to achieve annual sales and profit objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share targets.
  • Drive sales growth through both existing accounts and new business development activities.
  • Identify and penetrate new market opportunities across multiple industry sectors.
  • Negotiate and close major commercial contracts with key customers.
  • Review lost sales opportunities and implement corrective actions to improve conversion rates.
  • Monitor and evaluate sales performance against established KPIs and targets.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Sales Engineers/Managers across the region.
  • Establish sales objectives, performance metrics, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Conduct performance reviews and employee development discussions.
  • Allocate sales territories and optimize coverage based on business requirements.
  • Ensure alignment between sales activities and overall business objectives.

Customer & Distributor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to understand business needs and strengthen partnerships.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and timely resolution of customer issues.
  • Support and develop distributor capabilities through training, technical support, seminars, and demonstrations.

Marketing & Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement regional marketing plans to maximize profitability and market presence.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to align marketing initiatives with business objectives.
  • Represent the company at exhibitions, conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Promote all Welding Alloys products and services to existing and prospective customers.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Prepare annual sales forecasts, budgets, and business plans.
  • Monitor sales margins, profitability, and overall financial performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning activities.
  • Ensure effective utilization of CRM and ERP systems for sales management and reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Production, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Quality, and R&D teams.
  • Ensure sales commitments align with production capacity, delivery schedules, and customer expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement and business process enhancement initiatives.

 

Requirements

Education

  • Degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Candidates with significant welding industry sales experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years of sales experience within the welding, industrial consumables, manufacturing, engineering, or related industries.
  • Proven experience managing and developing sales teams.
  • Strong background in account management, business development, and customer relationship management.
  • Experience in budget planning, sales forecasting, and profit management.
  • Exposure to regional or international business environments is an advantage.

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of welding products, consumables, wear protection solutions, or industrial maintenance services.
  • Understanding of industrial sectors such as:
    • Cement
    • Mining
    • Steel
    • Oil & Gas
    • Power Generation
    • Heavy Engineering
    • Manufacturing

Travel Requirements

  • Extensive regional travel within Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
  • Occasional international travel may be required.
  • Ability to travel at short notice when necessary.
