| Manufacturing Manager Location: Terengganu (Onsite at Manufacturing Plant) Working Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:15 PM Team Size: ~1,200 personnel (supervisors, team leaders, operators)
Role Overview: Lead large-scale, labor-intensive manufacturing operations to deliver world-class performance across Safety, People, Quality, Volume, and Cost (SPQVC), in line with global standards and customer requirements. This hands-on role requires experience in managing high manpower volume, multi-shift operations, and complex assembly processes in a fast-paced automotive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Operations:
- Lead end-to-end operations including cutting, crimping, sub-assembly, final assembly, and inspections.
- Manage a large workforce across multiple shifts to achieve production targets.
- Ensure operational discipline, standardization, and consistent performance.
Labor & Productivity Management:
- Optimize manpower utilization, attendance, and skill development programs.
- Drive productivity improvements (JPH, labor efficiency) while maintaining safety and quality.
- Control labor costs, overtime, absenteeism, and attrition.
- Lead line balancing and takt time improvement projects.
Quality, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO, and customer-specific standards.
- Implement structured problem-solving to reduce defects and prevent complaints.
- Promote a strong safety culture and zero-accident mindset.
Cost & Performance Management:
- Monitor and control manufacturing costs including labor, scrap, and consumables.
- Lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Review KPIs daily to track performance and improvement.
People Development:
- Lead and develop supervisors and line leaders to manage large teams effectively.
- Establish discipline, standard work practices, and accountability on the shopfloor.
- Manage industrial relations in a labor-intensive environment.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration:
- Champion Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, and Poka-Yoke.
- Collaborate with engineering and support teams on process improvements and automation.
- Work closely with Production Control, Logistics, Quality, Maintenance, HR, and EHS teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or equivalent). MBA is a plus.
- Minimum 10+ years in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in automotive and labor-intensive manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to manage multi-shift, high-volume, high-mix production.
- Familiarity with global or multinational company standards.
