Position Overview
As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will be responsible for leading the company through its next phase of growth and transformation. You will work closely with the founder to replace them in a leadership capacity and build out a more structured corporate environment while retaining the entrepreneurial spirit. The role requires a deep understanding of the semiconductor industry, ideally with experience in M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) services or cleanroom operations, as well as proven success in scaling businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy: Lead the development and execution of the company's business strategy, focusing on growth, efficiency, and profitability. Oversee the operational management of all company departments, ensuring a seamless transition from a family-run to a corporate structure.
- Business Development & Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain key business relationships, especially with clients and stakeholders in the semiconductor sector. Lead efforts to secure and expand business contracts, fostering long-term partnerships.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly. Oversee the 80-person team (including 70 engineers), ensuring the right balance of resources and capabilities to achieve the company's business objectives.
- Financial Management: Work alongside the CFO to manage the financial health of the organization, including budget management, cost control, and setting strategic financial goals.
- Company Growth: Scale the business, driving revenues, improving profitability, and leading the company through a buyout transaction (70-80% ownership transfer). Manage the company’s market position, working to secure long-term, high-value contracts similar to construction projects.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Bring an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving, identifying new opportunities and resources to grow the business in a competitive market.
- Cleanroom & M&E Operations: Utilize your experience in M&E (HVAC/cleanroom) services or semiconductor manufacturing to lead projects related to cleanroom setups and maintain operational excellence in these areas.
- Corporate Transformation: Transition the company from a family-run business to a more corporate structure, including implementing standardized business processes, policies, and performance tracking.
Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Strong background in the semiconductor sector, with preference given to candidates with M&E (HVAC/cleanroom) experience, or those with buy-side/consumer experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of scaling businesses with annual turnover of RM500 million or more. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, with hands-on experience in managing and growing operational teams.
- Business Development: Extensive experience in business development and relationship-building within the semiconductor sector or related industries. Ability to identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to secure long-term contracts.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Resourceful, diligent, strategic, and opportunistic. Ability to navigate complex challenges and drive business growth in an ever-changing environment.
- Age/Experience: Ideally aged 40 and above, with significant experience in leadership roles within large-scale businesses.
- Relocation Requirement: Based in Penang, with a willingness to relocate if necessary.
