Position Title: Junior Process / Production Engineer

Department: Engineering / Manufacturing

Reports to: Production Manager / Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

As a Junior Process / Production Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and the production team to support and improve manufacturing processes. You will assist in troubleshooting, analyzing production systems, and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product quality. This role is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and process engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Monitoring & Support:

    • Assist in the monitoring and analysis of manufacturing processes to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
    • Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Support the engineering team in optimizing production schedules, workflows, and equipment usage.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Participate in identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve cycle time, and minimize waste.
    • Contribute to the implementation of lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma, under guidance.
    • Help test and implement new process improvements or equipment upgrades.
  • Troubleshooting:

    • Assist in resolving minor production problems related to machine malfunctions, quality issues, and process inefficiencies.
    • Work with the maintenance team to ensure equipment is well-maintained and functioning properly.
  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Support in the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and analysis related to production performance and improvements.
    • Maintain records of production and process data for compliance, quality control, and performance tracking.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work alongside senior engineers, production teams, and quality control to understand and address production challenges.
    • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and high product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A recent graduate (or within 1-2 years of graduation) with a degree in Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.
    • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production workflows.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of CAD or manufacturing software (like AutoCAD, MATLAB, or simulation software) is a plus.
    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is beneficial but not required.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Eagerness to learn and grow in a manufacturing environment.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while also showing initiative.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Any internships, co-op experience, or projects related to manufacturing, process engineering, or production optimization is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
