Position: Cash Application Specialist
Role Responsibilities:
- Accurate daily payment applications to customer accounts (Lockbox /Check, ACH/Wire, Credit Card)
- General accounting and accounts receivable duties such as journal entry, chargebacks, and customer refunds/overpayments
- Research and resolve issues related to unidentified payments, unapplied cash, or missing payment information
- Process credit card payments as necessary, including credit card clearing/account recons Prepare and forward customer requests such as credit memos, invoices, account statements, etc.
- Assist in all payment-related needs including, but not limited to, payment investigations, account reconciliation, customer ACH set-up, banking information requests Interact with customers and banking institutions to resolve payment related inquiries and issues
- Proactively identify customer behavior trends and follow up with the appropriate parties
- Follow all company processes, procedures and best practices while assessing downstream impact to mitigate any recurring issues
- Engage in and suggest continuous process improvement ideas
- Ensure all contacts are handled in a manner consistent with our brand and values to maintain a cohesive place of business
- Perform other responsibilities as required
- Month end retail cash analysis and import journal entry
- Intercompany cash transfer between ERP system reconciliation
- Track previous ownership cash import files vs cash received
- Review/advise on monthly transactional cash application journal entry activity
Skills and Experience:
- 3+
years’ experience in an accounts receivable or cash applications setting
- High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree in related field such as accounting or finance preferred
- Good mathematical background and understanding
- Working knowledge of electronic banking and cash applications software
- Excel proficiency; Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, IF THEN, filters, formatting, charts, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a consistent, positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and contribute to broader team objectives
- Capable of working productively and effectively with minimal direction or supervision
- Ability to multitask and manage time to meet multiple deadlines
- Strong organizational, analytical, and research skills
- Possess accurate data entry skills and detail oriented
